For the Cali-Sister

My first sister (the one who married my oldest brother) had a birthday this past weekend. This year I've been trying to sew something for most of the "special days" in my families' lives. I know I won't always have the time to do so, but in this season of my life, I do have extra time to sew - and I love sewing for other people... so, sorry fam, you're stuck with home-made gifts :)

This was my first time using my tutorial for grocery totes without the special fabric I started making them with. Because of this, I lined this bag (just made two bags with the tutorial and then sewed them together!). Any google search for lined tote bag tutorial will provide more specific instructions!

The fabric is actually from a table cloth I picked up at a thrift store (don't worry, I washed it!!). The edges of the table cloth were more colorful than the inside, which is how the straps are a different pattern than the body of the bag.

I hope she likes it!!

  1. Great idea to use a tablecloth for your fabric. The bag is very cute I'm sure your sister will love it.

  2. I love it! It's a great way to recycle a tablecloth and the plaid really makes it. Thanks for sharing!
