Our Lake

I wish we had a lake we could call our own, but instead, we have "Our Lake." The trail head is about 1 1/2 hours NW of us, but that is considered a short drive out here - considering most destinations are between 1-4 hours from us.

We tried hiking up to it earlier this summer... this is what we encountered on that trip...

At first, just a little snow...

Then, we found a little bit more...

It had gone through so many melt-freeze cycles, that it was almost like ice.

I continued to follow him, even through this scree field (there is a trail there, it just blends in!)

This is where I put my foot down. Turns out that those tracks were not human... mountain goat!

Even though we didn't make it to the lake, we still had some awesome views!

On the way down, I treaded lightly and carefully... Grizz slid right down.

We decided to try again a few weeks ago. We had much better results!!

Much less snow in the still-beautiful views.

Instead of mountain goat trails, the human trail was available :)

Waterfall!!

At the bottom of the waterfall... still snow...

We made it!

Nestled between mountains...

OUR LAKE!

Guess what?! We still found ways to have to cross snow fields :p

Mountain views. Mountain meadows.

What a great Saturday trek :)

If you squint, you might see a few goats at the top of the ridge...

Guess who felt like sliding a bit?! :p
