A Win and a Hopeful Pouch

I won some fabric!
Knotted-Thread was one of Clover and Violet's "A Season by Hand" series, and I won one of the weekly giveaways! Jenn sent me a fat-eighth low-volume bundle - aren't the fabrics fun?! Since I sent most of my fabric home (we're moving back to South Dakota soonish), it is nice to at least have this bundle available incase I'm feeling stitchy :)

And guess what?! I've already used two of the fabrics!
Kristy at Hopeful Threads organizes monthly service projects, and this month is all about going back to school - lots of items can be donated (the main recipients will be students on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota), but if you want to sew, they're asking for pencil pouches!

I thought the animal fabric was just asking to be made into a pencil pouch :) I already had the matching zipper on hand - how lucky! I used the tutorial by Free Spirit Fabrics, but I had to cut my rectangles at 9"x10" instead of 10" squares due to the fact that I was using fat eighths. The tutorial was very easy to follow and I sewed this up in about half an hour!
